What is BOGO?

BOGO stands for “Buy One, Get One”. It refers to a promotional offer where you buy one item, and then you either get another item for free or at a lower price. It’s a way for stores to encourage people to buy more things by giving them something extra when they make a purchase.

Types of BOGO Promotions

  • Traditional BOGO. Buy One, Get One Free (BOGOF) is the classic version where you buy one item at the regular price and get a second item of equal or lesser value for free.
  • BOGO X% Off. In this variation, you buy one item at full price and get another item of equal or lesser value at a discounted percentage off its regular price. For example, Buy One, Get One 50% Off.
  • BOGO Mix and Match. This type allows customers to mix and match items within a specific category. For example, you might buy one shirt and get another shirt or pair of pants for free or at a discount.
  • BOGO with Threshold Purchase. Here, you might get a BOGO deal when you spend a certain amount of money. For instance, Spend $50 and Get a BOGO Deal on Select Items.
  • BOGO for Members or Loyalty Programs. Some retailers offer BOGO promotions exclusively to members or customers who are part of their loyalty programs as a reward for their continued patronage.
  • BOGO on Specific Days or Times. Businesses might offer BOGO deals on specific days of the week or during certain hours to drive foot traffic during slower times.
  • BOGO on Clearance or Seasonal Items. Retailers may use BOGO promotions to clear out older inventory or promote seasonal items.
  • BOGO Gift with Purchase. Customers may receive a BOGO deal on a certain item when they make a qualifying purchase. For instance, Buy Perfume and Get a BOGO Deal on Matching Lotion.
